Day Wave Shares Emotional New Single “As You Are”

Los Angeles-based dream-pop artist Day Wave, the project of Jackson Phillips, returns with an emotionally rich single titled “As You Are.” Released through Play It Again Sam, this track follows the critically acclaimed 2022 release Pastlife, which featured KennyHoopla and Hazel English.

Day Wave describes “As You Are” as a poignant narrative of a relationship’s inevitable unraveling, where change and compromise seem distant. “It’s about a relationship unraveling, and the moment you realize that neither person is willing to change to make it work,” he explains. The song’s creation was a gradual process, stemming from a chord progression Phillips had been toying with for months.

In the single, Phillips artfully blends poignant lyrics like “You’re so calm, the way you talk around me, it’s making us collapse,” and “I feel numb, I’m over your surroundings,” with the signature dream-pop sound that has defined his music. The resulting mix is both reflective and sonically captivating, indicative of Phillips’ skill in crafting music that speaks to the heart.

Day Wave has emerged as a prominent name in the dream-pop genre, exploring themes of love, loss, and life through his music.
