She Rocks Awards 2024 Announces Esteemed Women Honorees
The Women’s International Music Network (the WiMN) has announced an impressive lineup of honorees for the upcoming 2024 She Rocks Awards. Among the first to be recognized are Debbie Gibson, Laura Karpman, Britt Lightning, Kelsy Karter, and Sylvia Massy. The event will be co-hosted by the iconic Susanna Hoffs and is set to take place at the Anaheim Convention Center Ballroom in Anaheim, California, on January 25th, 2024.
Debbie Gibson, celebrated for her historic achievement on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Foolish Beat” from her debut album Out of the Blue, and recognized for her record-setting accomplishments as a young artist, remains a dynamic force in the music industry. As she marks over thirty years since the release of her influential album Electric Youth in 2024, Gibson‘s multifaceted career extends across music, theater, television, and now literature, with the anticipated release of her memoir.
Susanna Hoffs, co-founder of The Bangles, boasts a career rich with collaborations and solo ventures. Having been honored at the She Rocks Awards in 2015, Hoffs returns to co-host the event, bringing her deep experience and resonance within the music world, highlighted recently by her novel “This Bird Has Flown.”
Britt Lightning, the lead guitarist of Vixen, has made a significant impact not just with her music but also as the Musical Director at Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp. Her influence extends across genres, having toured with a wide array of artists and contributing to the development of aspiring musicians.
Kelsy Karter, frontwoman of Kelsy Karter & The Heroines, has been a vibrant force in the rock & roll scene. Known for her audacious promotional stunts and strong musical presence, Karter and her band are working on their second album following a tour supporting Billy Idol.
Sylvia Massy’s production prowess, recognized through her work with artists like Tool and System of a Down, and her expertise in vintage audio equipment, make her a standout honoree. Her book, “Recording Unhinged,” has gained best-seller status on Amazon.
Composer Laura Karpman, known for her boundary-pushing scores and notable contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, brings her award-winning talent to the table, symbolizing the innovative spirit of the She Rocks Awards.
The She Rocks Awards, now an official NAMM-sponsored event, is celebrated as the premier event during the NAMM Show. It honors women who are trailblazers and role models in the music industry. Past honorees include renowned artists like Dionne Warwick, Nancy Wilson, Melissa Etheridge, and The Bangles.
Tickets for this inspiring event are available now, offering an evening of live music, awards, speeches, and more. The She Rocks Awards is open to the public, although a NAMM Show badge is required for attendance. Tickets to attend are on sale through their official website.
