Live Nation Confirms Wage Increase For Venue Workers

In a significant move to boost the live music industry and support its workforce, Live Nation Entertainment has announced a substantial wage increase for its club staff across the United States and Canada. The initiative is part of the company’s “On the Road Again” program, aimed at nurturing developing artists and the essential crews that make live shows possible.

Starting immediately, Live Nation will implement a new minimum wage structure for their employees: hourly club staff will now earn a starting wage of $20 per hour, while supervisor positions will begin at $25 per hour. This change will positively affect over 5,000 crew members across various roles, including box office attendants, production crews, guest services, and many more. The new base wages mark a more than 250% increase over the federal minimum wage, surpassing even the highest state minimum wages in areas like California, New York, Washington, and the District of Columbia.

Michael Rapino, CEO and President of Live Nation Entertainment, emphasized the importance of these behind-the-scenes professionals in the live music industry. “Shows wouldn’t happen without the unsung heroes who work in the background to help support artists and fans,” he said. Rapino also highlighted the career opportunities within the live music sector, noting that many of Live Nation‘s promoters and venue managers began their careers in smaller venues. This wage increase is seen as an investment in the staff’s potential and growth within the industry.

In the last two years, nearly half of all crew members at venues participating in the “On the Road Again” program were promoted from part-time to full-time roles.

Additionally, “On the Road Again,” created with music legend Willie Nelson, continues to provide support to headline and support acts playing at Live Nation clubs. These acts receive $1,500 in travel bonuses, nightly compensation, and full profits from merchandise sales.

Recognized as a “Great Place to Work” since 2016, Live Nation Entertainment is proud of its initiatives to support its employees and the broader music industry.
