Zooey Celeste Shares New Single “Walk By” Ahead Of Debut Album Release

Following the heels of the resonant “Cosmic Being,” musician Zooey Celeste has unveiled another evocative single, “Walk By,” heralding from his upcoming debut album, Restless Thoughts. The album is due out on November 10th, 2023, via ATO Records.

Reflecting on the album’s conception and its journey, Zooey Celeste shared, “Making this record showed me that if I’m not going beyond what the world has handed me as options, then I’m not being creative.” Discussing his own voyage of self-discovery, Celeste added, “I went as far as I could with the process of self-exploration, and I felt fully supported in that—almost like everything was a little bit fated, or we were tapping into something in the ether.” Through Restless Thoughts, Celeste aims to stir listeners into embracing new realms of possibility.

Celeste’s album, Restless Thoughts, feels like a magical story set to music. It’s inspired by a dream character he created, a guide for souls after they pass away. He says this idea came from a book he wrote, which mixes intense stories like Quentin Tarantino’s movies with deep spiritual teachings from the Bhagavad Gita.

The album wasn’t just Celeste’s work. Producer Nick Hakim (Lil Yachty, Lianne La Havas) helped shape its sound. There are also contributions from other talented musicians like Jake Portrait, the bassist from Unknown Mortal Orchestra, drummer Abe Rounds, and singer Tei Shi. Heba Kadry, who’s worked with big names like Ryuichi Sakamoto and Björk, polished the album’s sound at the end.
