Michèle Ducray Releases Whimsical Debut EP “Throne Of Mine”
In a captivating meld of dark and light pop, New Zealand’s emerging talent, Michèle Ducray, has released her debut EP, Throne Of Mine, out October 6th, 2023. The four-track project is a compelling blend of whimsical, edgy, and playful synth-pop. From childhood memories to failed relationships, Ducray’s debut EP encapsulates it all.
Commenting on the emotions behind the record, Throne Of Mine, Michèle Ducray revealed, “The EP showcases some pivotal times of my life. Using both dark and light pop vibes, I reminisce about my childhood, bullying, failed relationships, and even sing about the world ending! It’s a deeply personal record and some parts were tough to record, but we got there in the end!”
The EP’s enchanting sound can be contributed to celebrated producer Liam Quinn (Peaches PRC, Rita Ora), who played a significant role in its production, mixing, and mastering in Sydney, Australia. The EP’s early reception is promising with already receiving features on Spotify’s New Music Friday AU & NZ and Apple Music’s New in Pop.

Over the years, Ducray has collaborated with renowned industry names such as Simon Gooding (Dua Lipa, Pink), Pacific Heights (Drax Project, Shapeshifter), Liam Quinn (Delta Goodrem, Rita Ora), and DJ RUEBIK. Her unique sound, characterized by intoxicating vocals combined with deep drum & bass rhythms, has garnered her a significant following. Ducray, a self-proclaimed “fan of the peculiar”, draws inspiration from mystique themes, particularly the horror genre and vibrant circus life.
Signed to Antipodes Records, Ducray‘s music has already garnered airplay across major New Zealand radio stations, and she’s graced the stages of popular NZ festivals like Bay Dreams and Electric Avenue. Applauded as a semi-finalist in the 2021 Voyager International Songwriting contest, Michèle Ducray is on the cusp of becoming one of New Zealand’s standout emerging artists.
