Jordan Astra Announces New EP “Man From East”

Emerging Toronto-based producer, Jordan Astra, announced his much-anticipated EP, Man From East, which is set for release on November 24th, 2023. In celebration of the announcement, Astra has teased record with the unveiling of the lead single, “Mesmerized”.

The 7-track EP, Man From East, described by Astra as a “collection of stories and memories from this past decade,” marks the onset of a series of EPs reflecting his global experiences. The Indonesian-Canadian artist emphasized the depth of his connection to this music, stating, “I’ve spent the last 9 years traveling across the world, falling in love, growing up and realizing my artistry has always pushed me forward. I can’t begin to express how much this music means to me.”

Elaborating on the lead single “Mesmerized”, Astra reveals the inspiration, saying, “I wanted to write a funk record that felt like how it sounded. It speaks about the allure and chemistry of someone you’re into.”

Jordan Astra‘s journey in the music industry has been a rollercoaster. Winning The Showcase Tour Finale in 2019 and subsequently opening for renowned artist Leikeli47 the same year, he has continuously made his mark. Although he faced setbacks, like the postponement of his 20-city US tour due to COVID-19, Astra has always bounced back, with commendable performances like the NBL Australia half-time show in 2021.

This year holds special significance for the artist. His upcoming EP, Man From East, explores his personal journey, transitioning from Australia back to his roots in Canada, and starting afresh. Astra‘s humble beginnings trace back to producing beats in his university dorm room in 2009. By 2018, he was ready to step into the spotlight as a recording artist. Despite collaborating with local artists, Astra‘s drive and impatience for pacing eventually shaped him into the passionate artist we see today.
