Harmless Returns With New Single “Hate Me”; “Springs Eternal” Unveiled

After a nine-year hiatus marked by tragedy and transformation, Gold-selling bedroom pop artist Harmless, also known as Nacho Cano, is set to release his much-anticipated full-length album, Springs Eternal, on March 29th, 2024. The Los Angeles-based, Mexico City-born, songwriter and producer faced a near-fatal hit-and-run accident, extensive surgeries, a long road to recovery, legal battles, and the global pandemic, all of which unintentionally extended his break from the music scene.

Nacho Cano delved into his creative process at his small home studio in Silverlake, CA, co-producing the album with Yves Rothman (Yves Tumor, Bartees Strange) at the iconic Sunset Sound in a span of just nine days. Springs Eternal is a melody of reconciliation, reflections on his changed life due to the crime, and a reminiscence of his early days as a blog-obsessed teenage immigrant excited to start a band. The album will feature recent singles “It’s Only You,” “Rosie,” “What U Want,” and “As I Lay Chillin.”

Today, Harmless shares his first teaser to the new material with his new single, “Hate Me,” which is accompanied by an animated music video directed by Isabelle Aspin and Brian Smee, with special animations by Haewon Lee. The directors revealed the inspiration behind the video, stating, “the video is a build out of homages to our favorite featurettes… the challenge and fun was pulling these moments together into the approximation of a fictional movie that could have existed alongside those films.”

Drawing inspiration from his life experiences as an artist, immigrant, and survivor of a crime, Harmless has been able to maintain momentum, gaining a Gold certification for his anthem “Swing Lynn” which exploded on TikTok, achieving nearly half-a-billion streams. Despite being through a harrowing experience and a grueling criminal trial, he continued to release several impactful EPs and toured with several bands, reflecting his relentless passion for music and unbreakable spirit.

Cano’s journey, the crime, and his inspiring comeback have shaped Springs Eternal, making it a heartfelt narrative combined with his unique, captivating sound.
