Slowdive Share New Single “the slab”

Renowned British rock band Slowdive has unveiled their latest track “the slab,” the latest single release from their upcoming fifth studio album everything is alive, set for a September 1st, 2023, release via Dead Oceans.

“the slab” captivates with its robust percussion, edgy guitars, and haunting synths. It joins the ranks of their critically-acclaimed tracks “kisses” and “skin in the game”, both of which were released earlier this year. Vocalist and guitarist Neil Halstead describes “the slab” as “the heaviest track on the record. We wanted it to feel like a big slab of music. Very dense.”

Additionally, in celebration of their upcoming album everything is alive, Dead Oceans has organized listening sessions in both New York (August 24th) and Los Angeles (August 31st), giving fans a front-row seat to the new album in Dolby Atmos®. The album boasts of Slowdive‘s emblematic psychedelic vibe but also delves into themes of life, loss, and optimism. It’s a tribute to members Rachel Goswell’s mother and Simon Scott’s father, who both departed in 2020. Goswell reflects, “There were some profound shifts for some of us personally.” These profound sentiments resonate throughout their music.

This fall, Slowdive will also grace several North American cities with their presence. Many tour dates are already sold out, signifying the band’s continued support.
