Róisín Murphy Shares New Single “You Knew”

Celebrated Irish singer-songwriter Róisín Murphy has unveiled her latest single “You Knew”, taken off her highly anticipated forthcoming album Hit Parade. The album, which is being produced by the acclaimed electronic music expert DJ Koze, is set to be released on September 8th, 2023, via Ninja Tune.

Murphy uses the new single to explore themes of unrequited love and existentialism. She says of the track, “’You Knew’ is the story of my life. I’m an open book, I put myself on the line and I make my motivations obvious. Many times, I have bravely loved and not been loved in return, and I’m proud of that. That phrase ‘You Knew’ just sums it all up, in fact you could put it on my headstone, except I’ve already decided it’ll say… You Had Your Chance!”

The track comes with two club-ready remixes from PAYFONE and Eli Escobar, offering unique interpretations of the space-age record. Both remixes have distinct core differences, yet are equally equipped for extensive club usage.

Hit Parade will continue Murphy‘s successful 30-year career, showcasing her ability to continuously evolve and reimagine her musical journey. The album promises to be a stark departure from the critical and commercial success of her 2020 album Róisín Machine, further solidifying her standing as an unmatched creative force in the music industry.

The album artwork, a blend of AI-generated imagery from artist Beth Frey and graphic design by Bráulio Amado, features Murphy herself. It is commissioned by creative studio Object & Animal, who have previously collaborated with renowned artists like FKA Twigs, Caroline Polachek, and Shygirl.
