Raw Poetic Announce New Album “Away Back In”; Share Lead Single “Ease Side”

MC/lyricist Jason Moore and guitarist P-Fritz, known as the dynamic duo Raw Poetic, are all set to release their upcoming album, Away Back In, slated to launch on August 25th, 2023, via Def Pressé. The album is preceded by the lead single, “Ease Side,” showcasing the seamless fusion of hip-hop, jazz, and garage rock that has become the duo’s signature.

Raw Poetic has been praised for their “radically optimistic endeavors” (The FADER) and “spiritually attuned hip-hop” (Bandcamp). Their 2022 releases, Laminated Skies and the triple-album Space Beyond The Solar System, received plaudits as a “magnum opus” (Jazziz). Now, they look to build on that momentum with Away Back In, backed by Damu the Fudgemunk‘s drum programming and production skills.

Moore shared insights about the lead single, saying, “’Ease Side’ for us is like a universal calling for everyone to pump the breaks a little. Life is tough, but sometimes it’s good to take a step back and appreciate the good parts of it.”

Originally hailing from the Northern Virginia / DC-metro area, Moore and Fritz have been a creative force for nearly two decades, starting with their progressive hip-hop band Restoring Poetry in Music (RPM), and later in the acclaimed Rawkus-signed group, Panacea. Following the success of their collaboration with Archie Shepp in 2021, they are back to the grind, promising a unique auditory experience with Away Back In.

The album unravels as a harmonious blend of vocals and instrumentals, spinning narratives about everyday life through Moore’s lyrics and Fritz’s engaging soundscapes.
