Panda Bear And Sonic Boom Announce Album “Reset in Dub”

Panda Bear and Sonic Boom, a dynamic duo consisting of Noah Lennox and Peter Kember, have announced the release of Reset in Dub, a reinterpretation of their acclaimed 2022 collaborative LP Reset. This new album, featuring re-workings of all nine tracks by renowned British dub producer Adrian Sherwood (Dub Syndicate, Nine Inch Nails), is set to be released digitally on August 18th, 2023, and on vinyl come December 8th through Domino.

“One of the primary influences on ‘Reset’ was Jamaican rocksteady, and it seemed like an interesting idea to explore taking it back to that sort of tropical root,” stated Kember.

Sherwood has composed his version of Reset at his On-U Sound Studios with a noteworthy crew that includes well-known musicians like Doug Wimbish and Skip McDonald from the Sugarhill Gang and Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five, along with Prisoner, Alex White, Horseman, Mark Bandola, “Crucial” Tony, Ras Badthings, Ivan “Celloman” Hussey, and Mathew Smythe.

Speaking about his fondness for dub and Sherwood’s work, Lennox said, “As a fan of Adrian’s, I was excited when Pete suggested we ask him to do some dubs of ‘Reset’ tracks. ‘Reset in Dub’ feels like the thing filtered through a prism, and it recontextualizes the original.”

Alongside the announcement, the duo also released a taste of the record, “Whirlpool Dub.” The visualizer for the track is an excerpt from their live show, with the original 3D characters concept by Sonic Boom and Mathew Grommetl; live processing and special effects are by Pedro Rompante.

Panda Bear & Sonic Boom’s first-ever US tour will commence tomorrow, July 14th, at the Bellwether in Los Angeles, with a line-up of dates throughout the summer, including the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago.
