MÒZÂMBÎQÚE, also known as Andrew Smith, is an emerging Ojai-based producer. MÒZÂMBÎQÚE made his debut in 2018 with For Never & Ever, captivating listeners with his unique blend of electronica and downtempo sounds. Since then, he has released a series of successful projects, including Mirroring (2021), How To Be A Human (2021), and Sincerely Yours (2022). His music has accumulated millions of streams, with tracks like “Private Island – coldbrew Remix,” “Inner Voice,” and “Just For A Moment”, and continues to grow his monthly listeners.
Now, MÒZÂMBÎQÚE has released his latest musical endeavor, the highly anticipated EP titled Peril 1998, out now via Nettwerk. Collaborating with producer Soft Palace, MÒZÂMBÎQÚE embarked on this project in 2022, exploring new sonic territories and creating a collection of tracks that reflect their shared love for music. The EP is a testament to their collaborative approach, with a focus on doing what feels good and breaking free from genre constraints.

Talking about his creative process, MÒZÂMBÎQÚE shared, “The approach was, ‘Let’s do whatever feels good.’ The EP is very eclectic. It’s all electronic music, but there are slower songs and more upbeat house songs as well. That’s why our collaborative relationship works well. We’re never worried about what genre it is as long as we enjoy it.”
In celebration of the new EP release, MÒZÂMBÎQÚE has also shared the official video for the song “Embrace”. The track, produced by MÒZÂMBÎQÚE and Soft Palace, also features guest appearances from Sacramento multi-instrumentalist The Philharmonik and vocals by singer-songwriter Destiny Molina.
