James Blake Returns With New Single “Big Hammer”

Grammy Award-winning artist James Blake has launched into his next creative adventure with the release of the single, “Big Hammer.” To celebrate the single, the track has been released with an accompanying music video, directed by Oscar Hudson (Radiohead, Bonobo).

“Big Hammer” is the lead single from Blake’s soon-to-be-released sixth studio album, Playing Robots Into Heaven, due out on September 8th, 2023, via Republic Records. This album is a successor to Blake’s critically acclaimed album Friends That Break Your Heart, which charted at #4 in the UK for Blake. His highest charting album to date.

The new album promises a return to the electronic roots of his early career with Hessle, Hemlock, and R&S records. It will also echo the CMYK event series with Ronda INTL, which launched in Los Angeles in March and will be heading to London on July 6th. The CMYK events, which quickly sold out and featured guests such as Steve Lacy, Channel Tres, and HAii, have created a stir in the music scene.

To celebrate the launch of Playing Robots Into Heaven, Blake will embark on an international tour, which will kick off at the Fabrique in Milan on September 18th. After traveling through several European cities, he will return home for a show at London’s Alexandra Palace on September 28th before embarking on a series of North American tour dates that concludes in Los Angeles at Hollywood Forever Cemetery on October 19th, 2023.
