Little Dragon Share New Single “Gold”

Grammy-nominated Swedish band Little Dragon has unveiled their latest single, “Gold,” a captivating reflection on the intangible riches that money cannot buy. The song takes inspiration from the pop hits of the 90s and 00s, with a chorus that channels the spirit of Whitney Houston. Against a backdrop of a slow, synth-heavy groove, the band delivers a mesmerizing blend of nostalgia and contemporary soundscapes.

“Gold” is a glimpse into Little Dragon‘s forthcoming album, titled Slugs Of Love, set to be released on July 7th, 2023, via Ninja Tune. The album features an exciting lineup of collaborations, including a guest appearance by Damon Albarn (Gorillaz, Blur) on the track “Glow.”

Additionally, the band has teamed up with respected East Atlanta rapper JID, signed to J. Cole‘s Dreamville label, for the previously released single “Stay,” a compelling exploration of the ups and downs of a relationship. Little Dragon‘s history is punctuated with notable collaborations, having worked with esteemed artists such as Kali Uchis, KAYTRANADA, Brittany Howard, Flying Lotus, BADBADNOTGOOD, Moses Sumney, Kelsey Lu, Gorillaz, Big Boi (OutKast), SBTRKT, Yo-Yo Ma, and many more. Their ability to attract such high-profile names is a testament to their influence as one of the most revered bands of their era.

“Gold” follows the recent releases of “Kenneth,” a soulful and lo-fi tribute to a childhood friend, and the titular single “Slugs Of Love,” an upbeat and joyous track. The band describes “Slugs Of Love” as a playful composition that imagines “being played by a bunch of youngsters with rubber boots in different sparkling colors.” Both songs have been accompanied by visually stunning and playful videos crafted by animation studio Unlimited Time Only, known for their work with Khruangbin, Leon Bridges, Teva, and more.

Comprising Erik Bodin, Fredrik Wallin, Håkan Wirenstarnd, and lead vocalist Yukimi Nagano, Little Dragon formed during their school years and have since become one of the most consistent and universally adored bands of recent times. Slugs Of Love, recorded in their Gothenburg Studio, showcases their signature fusion of soulful pop, electronics, and R&B. With Yukimi Nagano’s distinctive vocals leading the way, the album’s 11 tracks encompass a diverse range of musical influences, representing the band’s individuality and creativity.

Little Dragon‘s highly anticipated album, Slugs Of Love, is set to release on July 7th via Ninja Tune. Fans can catch the band live at various venues, including Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NYC, on July 13th and Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn, NYC, on July 14th.
