Dexys Announce First Album in 10 Years, “The Feminine Divine”

English pop-rock band Dexys, formerly known as Dexys Midnight Runners, has announced their first new album of original material in over a decade, The Feminine Divine. The album is set to be released on July 28th, 2023, via 100% Records.

Led by musician Kevin Rowland, Dexys rose to prominence in the 1980s with hits such as “Come On Eileen,” which reached number one in eight countries and became the best-selling single in the UK and US in 1982. With over 1 billion streams worldwide, 4.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, 49k subscribers on YouTube, and 71k followers on Facebook, the band has cemented their place in music history.

The Feminine Divine is Dexys‘ fifth album of original material and is produced by Pete Schwier (Duran Duran, Pet Shop Boys) and Toby Chapman (Spandau Ballet, Michael Ball). After taking a break to refocus his energy, Kevin Rowland returned to music with a fresh perspective and new-found positivity. The album is a personal, if not strictly autobiographical, record portraying a man whose views have evolved over time, including his views on women and the concept of masculinity he was raised with.

The album’s first single, “I’m Going To Get Free,” is accompanied by a music video and gives fans a taste of what’s to come. With its catchy hooks and upbeat melody, the song is a testament to the band’s continued relevance and skill at creating timeless pop-rock tunes.

Dexys‘ debut album, Searching For The Young Soul Rebels, is widely considered one of the best albums of all time by outlets such as BBC, The Guardian, The Quietus, and Uncut. Their subsequent album, Too-Rye-Ay, is multi-platinum in the UK and Australia and charted in the top 20 in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the Netherlands.

The Feminine Divine out on July 28th, 2023, via 100% Records. For more information on Dexys, visit their website here.
