Arthur Moon Shares New Single, “7 O’Clock Clap”

Brooklyn-based avant-pop artist Arthur Moon has just released their latest single, “7 O’Clock Clap,” which is available on all digital platforms. The track is the latest offering from their upcoming album Chaos! Chaos! Chaos! Side B, set to release on June 1st, 2023, via Switch Hit Records.

Arthur Moon is the project of Lora-Faye Åshuvud, who takes an unconventional approach to composition, blending pop, electronic, and experimental elements to create music that is unpredictable and playful yet intricate and controlled. “7 O’Clock Clap” is a testament to this approach, as the song deals with the theme of loss and transition.

In the track, Åshuvud explores breaking free from a performance of self that once felt creative but now feels constricted and inauthentic. They explain that the song is about turning our own pasts, our lost loves, and our own decaying bodies into the materials for who we become in the future.

The song is streaming now on all digital platforms and is available for any playlist shares. Alongside the release of the single, Arthur Moon has announced a Brooklyn record release show at Public Records on May 31st, 2023, for which advance tickets are now available here.

Fans can expect Chaos! Chaos! Chaos! Side B to be a “coherently incoherent” record, evoking chaos and mixed genres, but with a sense of direction and stillness. The album is a backwards A side/B side collection, and features a range of musical styles from experimental electro-pop to drum & bass-inspired tunes and fully live string orchestrated ballads.

Talking about the new album, Åshuvud shared, “This is a much weirder record than the self-titled Arthur Moon debut, in that the idea I had was to make an album that was “coherently incoherent”–like a mix CD your friend made for you in high school, like scrolling through the perfect Tiktok algorithm, like the experience of gender I was having at the time.”

In addition to producing their own music, Åshuvud also produces and remixes for other artists, including 9m88, Kaki King, and Oh Land. Collaborators on the Arthur Moon project include Cale Hawkins, Martin D. Fowler, Dave Palazola, and Aviva Jaye.
