Mandy, Indiana Announce New Album, “I’ve Seen A Way”
Manchester-based band Mandy, Indiana has announced the release of their debut album, i’ve seen a way, on May 19th, 2023, via Fire Talk Records.
The quartet, which consists of Valentine Caulfield (vocals), Scott Fair (guitar/producer), Simon Catling (synth), and Alex Macdougall (drums), draws on a wide range of experimental noise and industrial electronics. The band’s lyrics, which feature fury and fairy tales, provide a unique twist to their sound.
The album, which was recorded in various unusual locations such as caves, crypts, and shopping malls, is described as a manifesto for moments of openness and disruption. The band’s live performances explore the boundaries of tension and release, making them a compelling act to watch.
The lead single, “Pinking Shears,” showcases Caulfield’s frustration with the state of the world, expressed in her native French. The song’s rhythms are a combination of rude swagger and metal legs, highlighting the many inequalities and grievances that plague our existence in late-stage capitalism.
