Waters Of March Announce Debut Single, “Blue Lilacs”
Waters of March, a musical project comprised of Chris Connolly and Phil Carney, has released its debut single, “Blue Lilacs,” featuring guest vocalist Petra Haden.
With a background in classical piano and jazz guitar, respectively, Connolly (Sun Kil Moon), and Carney (Red House Painters) bring their diverse musical influences to the table in this project. Haden, jazz vocalist and daughter of renowned American bassist Charlie Haden (Ornette Coleman Quartet), adds her unique touch to the mix.
“Blue Lilacs” was inspired by a Motown-style guitar riff from Carney and explores a positive message, encouraging listeners to appreciate the simple gifts life has to offer despite past memories that may detract from it. The single is lead title track from their upcoming EP, out April 7th, 2023, and was recorded at Stagg Street Studios (Herbie Hancock, Kamasi Washington) in Los Angeles, CA.
