Daughter Share Second Single, “Party”, From “Stereo Mind Game”
British indie folk band, Daughter, has just released their latest single, “Party;” the second single from their highly-anticipated third album, Stereo Mind Game.
“Party” was co-written and co-produced by all three members of the band, Elena Tonra (lead vocalist), Igor Haefeli (guitarist), and Remi Aguiella (drummer), and recounts Tonra’s struggles with sobriety.
In a press release, the band stated, “‘Party’ recounts the place that Elena Tonra got to before deciding to give up alcohol.” With a calm and serene musical composition featuring strummed bass and steady drum beats, Tonra conveys her battle with sobriety through her singing. “I refuse to believe that there’s a problem, you see. I could stop if I want, I just don’t want to yet.”
The music video for “Party,” directed by Tiff Pritchett, who also directed their previous single “Be On Your Way,” uses lo-fi footage of Tonra lip-syncing to the song in a garden setting. The video’s grainy, raw feel perfectly captures the emotional intensity of the song and Tonra’s powerful vocals.

Stereo Mind Game is Daughter’s first album in seven years, and fans have been eagerly awaiting its release. The band took a hiatus after the release of their previous album, Not To Disappear, to work on the soundtrack for Square Enix’s “Life Is Strange: Before The Storm” video game. Tonra also released a solo album under the moniker Ex:Re in 2018.
The band’s upcoming album, Stereo Mind Game, is set to be released on April 7, 2023 via 4AD/Glassnote Records. For more information, get your copy of Stereo Mind Game, or to see any upcoming tour dates by visiting Daughter’s website here.
