Charlie & Margot Announces Debut Album, “Joyride”

New Jersey-based songwriter Matteo DeBenedetti, the mastermind behind the musical project Charlie & Margot, has announced his debut album “Joyride,” out April 7th, 2023. DeBenedetti has also shared the lead single, “Lonely”.

The album is a blend of genres including indie, Americana, and alternative. It pays homage to artists like Jason Isbell and Dr. Dog, while still maintaining its own unique sound and style. The album was produced by DeBenedetti’s longtime friend Erik Kase Romero, whose work includes The Front Bottoms, The Gaslight Anthem, The Bouncing Souls as well as Lorde. The fully live-tracked record is expected to bring a sense of urgency and energy to the table.

The first single from the album, “Lonely,” was written about self-evaluation during the quarantine and the subsequent months. It deals with managing insecurities and creating a healthy perception of self versus the world. The album as a whole is expected to touch on similar themes and emotions.

“Lonely is written about self evaluation during a time of intense isolation, in this instance, during the quarantine and subsequent months. It has a lot to do with managing my insecurities, and creating a healthy perception of how I see myself vs how others see me in the world, and managing expectations between life partners while growing to try to understand each other, explains DeBenedetti.
