Barrie Announces “5K” EP And Shares Lead Single, “Rivers”
Barrie Lindsay, better known for her moniker as Barrie, has announced her latest EP, 5K, which is due out on March 31st, 2023, via Winspear.
This latest record has a different tone from her previous album, Barbara, which was recognized for its intense emotional expression. Whereas, this new EP, has a playful vibe, taking inspiration from Barrie’s avid affection for running. “The music felt like a good arc for running. I want this music to be good company; steady and light enough. It’s literal and it’s metaphorical; this EP is meant to be your running partner for whatever form of 5K you’re doing”, explains Lindsay.
The lead track, “Races,” provides a glimpse into the unique sound that Barrie has created for the record. The music is characterized by a combination of upbeat and dreamy pop, set to a distinctive 12/8 time signature rhythm.

Last year was a significant year for Barrie, as she took on her first headlining tour, supported Alex G (US) and Japanese Breakfast (UK/EU), and received critical recognition for her album, Barbara. Much like her album, her song “Doesn’t Really Matter” received praises from the likes of The New York Times and Consequence. It garnered radio station airplay from SiriusXMU, KCRW, and WXPN as well as being featured as the cover of Spotify’s All New Indie Playlist.
Barrie is due to perform at SXSW, Austin, between March 10th-19th, 2023.
