Alex G Announces Alvvays Co-Headline Tour & Shares New Video
Alex G, the experimental singer-songwriter, has announced a co-headlining tour with Canadian indie pop band Alvvays. The tour will include eight performances spanning across North America, starting on August 23th, 2023, at the Prospect Park Bandshell in Brooklyn, NY. The tour will also stop in Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto, Woodstock, Royal Oak, and Pittsburgh, before concluding on September 1 at Artpark in Lewiston, NY.
Prior to the tour, Alex G will also be making several high-profile music festival appearances, including Bonnaroo, Coachella, Day in Day Out, and more, in support of his latest LP, God Save the Animals.
In celebration of the tour announcement, Alex G released a video for “Immunity,” one of the standout tracks from his recent album. The video, directed by Zev Magasis, features a grainy yet vivid backdrop for the stripped-down psychedelic soundscape, capturing themes of solace, solitude, shelter, kinship, and their antithesis through short clips of family, Alex G playing his piano, and the streets at night. Alex G’s pitched-up vocals add his own blur to his reflective admissions as he sings, “What your mother gave you, you can give to me. I have to put the cocaine in the vaccine. Walk out of the doctor with immunity. Life of revelation catching up with me.”
